Those who indulge in dreams looking at the horizon.
It all started in 1998 with a decision that seemed heroic to us at the time: to sail around the world on a sailing sailboat. This journey, as we planned, was to become just a page of our ordinary life and end two years later, with the return of the sailboat to Italy and our return to the office. In fact, the circumnavigation of the world stretched out for three and a half years and influenced us so much that as soon as we returned, we immediately began to look for all kinds of ways and come up with jobs that would allow us to continue living on the planet.dress.
We again went to sea, armed with television cameras, cameras and notebooks for recording, and began to film, photograph and write: about people, islands, animals, about nature, about everything that we met in distant lands. Our intention was to tell in words and films about the most remote corners of the planet, which can only be reached on a sailing sailboat. At first, it was very difficult to convince television, magazines and publishing houses that we, the most ordinary people, could tell something unusual. However, over time it worked. and tepr, finally to the question:
- What is your profession?
We can answer:
We are navigators and storytellers.
We are often invited to sailing clubs, travel associations, schools, libraries and the strangest places to talk about sailing, to show films we have shot. We tell our stories, show views of fabulous distant lands, and there are always questions at the end.
We noticed that some questions are always repeated, regardless of the audience. Ever since the internet has shortened distances, the same questions have been coming in by email. All these questions from people who would like to go sailing, problems and doubts that unite those who decide to change their lives forever, or for a certain period of time, move to a sailing sailboat with their worries about upcoming adventures and freedom. These are the same questions and doubts that confronted us many years ago before the first voyage.iem.
- How much is it?
Are there more pirates?
— How to be with children?
What if there is illness or injury?
In order to give answers to all these people at once to all these questions, without being embarrassed in time and volume, we decided to write this kind of guide. Everything written, for the most part, is based on our personal experience and something on the stories of people we have met over the years. However, the ocean is large, there are many people and everyone sees things in their own way. Do not blame me if in your case everything turns out to be completely different.
As in our other books, we divided the tasks a bit among ourselves, so some chapters were written by Carlo, others by Lizzy. There were also such topics on which everyone wanted to express their own, and they were written by four hands.
