Part 8: together again
While Kika is still in Haiti, it's time to get back on the boat...
Kika was stuck in Haiti for 2 months because there were problems with the visa.
Dan checked the metal parts of the boat for corrosion, as well as the overall strength of the mast. It turned out that the metal knobs were bent a little and he undertook to align them in a vise, and at the same time repainted them. The places where the guys-putents enter the deck turned out to be rotten - Dan cut out the rotten wood and filled the cleaned place with epoxy.
There was also a problem with the furling drum of the staysail. The required part was not on sale, so Dan turned to the car workshop, where they did what he needed.
In this series, a mast was installed on Uma (the boat is still on the shore).
