Day 1: Lviv and the first castle
Finally I got some sleep! This feeling is so rare that I have already forgotten how cool it is :) We arrived in Lviv at 12 o'clock, it was 20 degrees warm and cloudy. We collected bikes, bought water in a store and drove to the highway to Ternopil.
Train station in Lviv
On the way, we met a local cyclist named Nazar, who led us to the track we needed. The roads outside the city are the deadliest ... it feels like they haven’t been repaired for 3 years. In Zaporozhye, compared to Lviv, everything is still ok. Church next to the train station
The roads at the exit from Lviv are not just dead...
Looking for "old village"
In 2.5 hours we reached the castle in the Old Village, this is a square field the size of a couple of football fields, surrounded by walls 10 meters high. In some places there are remains of towers with loopholes on the walls. This castle is already about 400 years old from its foundation. Approximately 50 years after its foundation, Bogdan Khmelnitsky destroyed the castle and after a while it was rebuilt again. But Khmelnitsky is not very liked in Lvov and is by no means considered a hero, because once he laid siege to the city of Lvov and will force him to pay a large ransom for not touching him. Then Lviv was under the rule of the Commonwealth. In onthese days, sometimes concerts or festivals are held inside the walls of the castle, we found the remains of the stage)
Location of the castle in Stare Selo
After the castle we went to look for a place to park. Collecting water from a well by the road
In the evening we prepared soup with homemade stew for dinner and by 10 pm everyone had gone to bed.
Waiting for the water to boil. Put it on, lowered the pot into the fire, it boiled faster :)
Our itinerary for today. We traveled 40 km in 4 hours. So little because we spent an hour in Lviv because of its famous paving stones and dense car traffic. And I still don’t know the time because of the dead roads near Lvov: pit on pit. Tomorrow I have to be on duty, so I get up at 6:30, half an hour before the rest, and cook breakfast.
